If you had to write a poem about your life RIGHT NOW, what would it be about? Explain your answer in at least 4 to 5 sentences.

Prompt Response: It would be about wanting school to be over. Wanting to be on break. Wanting to have less work, and have more free time to hang out with friends. I am just really busy right now which is not a bad thing but I want more free time.  Summary: We did common lit and Rhetoric notes. Reflection: I learned more about Rhetorical Analysis.

When you are in a mood that you do not like, what are some strategies that you use to change your mood?

Prompt Response:  I watch TV usually or go work out. I don't really have a whole list of things that I go right to. I just do whatever I feel like doing.   I might take a short walk, listen to music, or talk to someone I trust. These simple actions can help me shift my focus and improve my mood. Summary: I did two common lits Reflection:  I read a couple passages.

Describe your personal approach to creativity. What steps do you follow when you’re working on a project. Tell me about a project you created that you were most proud of.

Prompt Response:  My approach to creativity is usually just me thinkin of ideas and then I do my best to execute them. I don't really have a whole plan or anything when I'm doing something creative, things just come to me. And for a project that I am most proud of I am not really sure. Maybe something that I made on my uncles pottery wheel because it was really hard to make. I don't really do a whole lot of creative projects anymore, even for school I just want to get a good grade and get it done. Summary: We did a writable. Reflection:  I learned new vocab.

After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

Prompt Response:  I think that  procatalepsis is the most compelling because being able to refute a claim that someone has not even brought up yet is very powerful. I think that it is both effective and compelling, and technically you could use it multiple times. To me it is the best way to win an argument or persuade someone, obviously combined with other things but this is a key component.  Summary: We are going to take a test Reflection:  I am not sure what to put we did the prompt at the beginning of class.

Choose a vocabulary word that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Prompt Response:  A word that resonates with me is my name. I have had it all my life and it is apart of who I am. Almost all of my memories include it and it will be with me for many more. I think that it is significant because it is not a normal name, and I have only ever met 1 other person with it. I think I have heard a couple of people with it but not ever met them. Summary: We went to the auditorium and did some work. Reflection:  I learned about what colleges are best for me.

Write about a time you didn’t feel like yourself.

Prompt Response:  A time that I didn't feel like myself was when I was really sick and I was out of it. I didn't feel like my self because I was really weak and felt terrible. I had the flu I think and the fever was very persistent. I eventually got better but I had to take a lot of days off of work which I didn't like because now that I just got my paycheck it is way smaller than I was hoping.   Summary: We listened to the MLK speech and identified Rhetoric. Reflection:  I learned how to identify Rhetoric in a speech efficiently.

Describe a place where you feel the most at peace and explain why.

Prompt Response:  A time that I felt most at peace was when I was hiking with my brother and we got to the top of the mountain and the sunrise was pretty cool. I was just really quiet and it was the kind of quiet that makes your mind go blank and your just in the moment. It was on a camping trip we went on last year before he went to college.  Summary: We did more Rhetoric  Reflection:  I learned about metaphors specifically.

Reflect on a time when you had to rely on someone else. How did it feel?

Prompt Response:  A time that I had to rely on someone else was when I was sick just about a week ago with the flu. It was really bad and I missed the first day back to school after Christmas break. I don't mind having to rely on people for help and I like being able to have people that I can rely on in times like that when I have a really high fever and need someone to make food for me or get me meds from the store.  Summary: We did more work with rhetoric devices. Reflection:  I learned that I can use "so" in a simile.

What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

Prompt Response:  In high school I have learned how to be independent and get my own work done on time. I have learned to be responsible for my own actions and know the consequences. I think that you need to be able to know how to schedule well in life after high school. Without that ability you may end up being fired for not getting things done on time.  Summary: We did more work with Rhetoric Reflection:  I learned some new rhetoric devices.

Describe a time when you took a hiatus from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you?

Prompt Response:  I took a break from cooking during the holidays because so much food was being made for me. I got used to it and really liked it, but then when school started again I had to start making breakfast and meals right after school again and I was lazy. I didn't want to do it but I still did because I was hungry. My parents do cook I just am not up at the same time as them in the morning and I am home alone for a while after school.  Summary: We learned more rhetorical devices. Reflection:  I like the new wheel idea for calling on people.

Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

Prompt Response:   Today’s lesson on figures of speech was pretty okay. Learning hyperbole was so amazing that my brain literally exploded. On the other hand, saying the hard parts were "not easy" is a bit of a litotes. The difficult sections were just a tiny bit tricky for some of us. It's not the worst thing we've ever had to learn Summary: We learned about the things listed above. Reflection:  I listed in the prompt before the stuff we did today because I was not here yesterday.

My break was pretty good even though my family was not able to come and visit much. I was able to enjoy sleeping in and not worrying about homework and the hassle and boredom of school.  Summary: We were in new tables and worked on tilotes.  Reflection:  I learned much in this class.
